Katie Coyne is an ecologist and environmental planner who has worked on landscape, aquatic, coastal, and marine ecology; and, as an environmental educator, environmental planner, and urban ecological designer. She utilizes a systems thinking approach for design and planning projects promoting deeper understanding of interconnected ecological and social systems. She founded MyCreekATX, an Austin based project that aims to better connect Austinites to each other and creek systems by increasing access to creek data through a website and app, and by increasing collaboration between creek users and managers.
Katie currently works at Asakura Robinson Company in Austin, TX where she is part of the urban ecology studio. She received a BS in Ecology from the University of Florida and dual MS degrees in Community and Regional Planning and Sustainable Design at the University of Texas. Katie’s expertise ranges from landscape and coastal ecology, water resources planning, and designing resilient eco-cultural systems to green affordable housing and environmental justice issues.
